THE CITY WAKES - A TRIBUTE TO SYD BARRETT A multi-media stage production performed in Cambridge in autumn 2008 The production was endorsed by Syd's sister Rosemary Breen and was benefiting from the close involvement of a number of Syd’s friends. Among the events, "The Other Room: Syd Barrett's Art and Life" showing Syd's art works and paintings from the very early days, Storm Thorgerson's Mind Over Matter exhibition, 60s-style happenings and concert performances including a guest appearance by the Grasshopper’s Green Herbarian Band (with psychedelic lighting from Peter Wynne Wilson, Pink Floyd’s original designer). On 1st November, a final "Gala performance" celebrated Syd's music in the company of friends like John "Hoppy" Hopkins, Storm Thorgerson, Mick Rock, and Syd's former girlfriends. |
